CityFitness Appoints Impact PR to Lead National Communications Programme
New Zealand’s largest gym chain, CityFitness, has appointed independent Auckland public relations agency Impact PR to support its national growth and communications strategy.
The appointment will see Impact PR provide CityFitness with strategic public relations, media relations, corporate communications, thought leadership and brand communications services.
With 66 fitness clubs operating nationwide, CityFitness is one of New Zealand’s largest and most recognised health and fitness brands. Its growing national network provides New Zealanders with access to gym facilities, group fitness classes, personal training and digital fitness support.
Latest results from the New Zealand Health Survey show that only 46.2% of New Zealand adults meet recommended physical activity guidelines.
Impact PR to support CityFitness’ national growth
The partnership comes as CityFitness continues to expand its presence across New Zealand and public interest grows in physical activity, preventative health and accessible fitness services.
Impact PR will support the chain in communicating its national growth, community contribution and role in helping more New Zealanders build sustainable exercise habits.
The communications programme will include proactive media relations, strategic messaging, corporate communications and thought leadership across mainstream, business, health, lifestyle and fitness media.
Impact PR managing director Mark Devlin said the appointment reflected the agency’s experience working with brands operating across health, wellbeing, consumer, technology and corporate communications.
“CityFitness is one of New Zealand’s most visible fitness brands and plays an important role in helping more people access exercise, strength training and healthier routines.
“As public discussion around physical inactivity, preventative health and long-term wellbeing continues to grow, there is a significant opportunity for CityFitness to contribute informed, practical and credible commentary.
“We’re delighted to be working with the company and supporting the next stage of its communications strategy through strategic public relations, thought leadership and high-quality media engagement.”
Building CityFitness’ media and thought leadership profile
Impact PR will work with CityFitness to identify credible news opportunities and provide expert commentary on issues affecting the health and fitness sector.
This will include public discussion around physical inactivity, barriers to exercise, preventative health, community wellbeing and the importance of making fitness facilities accessible to people throughout New Zealand.
The PR programme will also support the company as it continues to grow its network and introduce its fitness, recovery and wellbeing services to more urban and regional communities.
CityFitness chief operating officer Doug Hatten said the company selected Impact PR because of its experience communicating health, lifestyle and business issues to mainstream and industry audiences.
“Impact PR demonstrated a strong understanding of the role CityFitness plays in New Zealand communities and the wider conversation around health, exercise and wellbeing.
“The agency has a proven ability to communicate important issues in a way that is clear, relevant and accessible. That made Impact PR a strong fit as CityFitness continues to grow its national profile and engage with New Zealanders through the media.”
Impact PR expands health and fitness communications portfolio
The appointment continues Impact PR’s growth across health, consumer and corporate communications.
The independent New Zealand PR agency advises organisations operating in healthcare, fitness, technology, financial services, manufacturing, property, infrastructure and professional services.
Impact PR develops strategic communications and earned media campaigns designed to increase brand awareness, strengthen corporate reputation and position senior leaders as credible commentators within their industries.
The agency’s services include media strategy, news generation, media relations, thought leadership, reputation management, corporate communications, issues management and executive profiling.
